Mindful Motion

Mindful Motion draws from a variety of movement styles, disciplines and techniques, such as yoga, pilates, feldenkrais and chi kung. The class format combines cardio, functional strength, flexibility, balance and relaxation. Through fluid movement the mind focuses attention and awareness on alignment, posture, mind body awareness, individuality and self-expression. Mindful Motion encourages class participants to follow the flow of their breath, to be present in the workout, release, let go and relax.

Julie Toyama

Julie Toyama is a specialist in Mind Body Fitness classes and founder of Mindful Motion. Julie has been a Freestyle ACE (American Council on Exercise) Certified Group Fitness instructor, since 1988. Julie has taught a wide range of class formats, created Fitness Industry teaching methods and class formats in Australia and the United States, such as Balance in Motion and Mindful Motion and was a Fitness Leader Course Lecturer for both TAFE and Australian Institute for Fitness. Julie has mounted fitness programs for international health clubs in Australia, California and the UK. Julie is also the former recipient of South Australian Fitness Leader of the Year award and was recognized by Australian Fitness Network as a pioneer in the field of Mind Body Fitness. In 2014 Julie completed her Bachelor of Social Work degree with Honours.
